Linh's journey is fraught with hardship and peril. She encounters bandits, who seek to take her life for her knowledge of the Lotus of Hope, and she survives by using her wit and the teachings of her father. She befriends a mysterious man named Kiet, who claims to have once been a loyalist to the New World Order but has since seen the error of his ways.
